A year ago, when the first teaser trailer for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse dropped, I admit I wasn’t sure how to feel. After watching the movie twice within days of each other, I can safely say that not only is Into the Spider-Verse my favorite superhero film of the year, but it could be my favorite film of 2018.(Note: Image was created by the legendary Chuck Collins, creator of the famous Bounce Graphic Novel.)

For those still unaware (or for anyone who hasn’t read my two other articles on this anime), I have a deep love for My Hero Academia. When I heard that My Hero One’s Justice came out for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC, I just had to jump on the opportunity to write about this little gem. This is the series’ first major foray into the video game market, aside from the 3DS game My Hero Academia: Battle For All, which was never released outside of Japan. So, how well does the series fare as a video game? Well, let’s get into it! For the sake of clarity, I’m only discussing the Nintendo Switch version of the game.

Josh Brolin is quite possibly the most awesome villain/superhero actor to play a character or series of characters in the Marvel cinematic enterprise. The funny thing about him is that his first superhero movie was with the DC Universe so in a way, we wouldn’t have received these great Marvel blockbusters if not for Warner Bros….

So there I was, having just seen Deadpool 2, standing outside discussing what we thought of it, but with one exception. My father was in the group. He wasn't chaperoning, I'm a grown ass man, and I hadn't dragged him along, he just really wanted to come. He's not a comic guy and he doesn't really care about Marvel or DC movies all that much, he doesn’t even really understand most of it. He told me his favorite part of the movie was the advertising. I had to figure out exactly what had happened here.
Black Panther and Thor: Ragnarok have knocked it out the park with story, character development, action, and comedy. Thor: Ragnarok brought new life to Thor on the big screen, and Black Panther has shown Hollywood an all-black cast can break records at the box office. Infinity War has done something unique that only Marvel has pulled off successfully. It made me see a movie twice in one day!!!
Thanos is unlike any other Marvel Cinematic Universe villain we’ve ever seen. This is the first time in the MCU we’ve actually seen the villain win and with this victory, Thanos didn’t become a minimal part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he became the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Thanos is undeniably the greatest villain in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, and I’m about to tell you why. But before I do, I have two things to say. First, if you haven’t seen it yet, go out and see Avengers: Infinity War. If you are a fan of comic book movies you will absolutely not regret it. With Avengers: Infinity War SOOO close to the release date, I feel like it’s time for me to hit you with my nerd knowledge and drop my own personal theory of what we are going to see on April 27th.
I am a HUGE monster movie fan. I have been for as long as I can remember, ever since my parents rented some old Godzilla VHS tapes from the local video store. When Pacific Rim was released, it was a colorful, campy yet intense popcorn flick that kept me on the edge of my seat with its fun characters and over the top action. With Pacific Rim Uprising, it takes a more serious look at the world the films take place in, and ask bigger questions like “Why are the Kaiju attacking to begin with? What can we do to stop them to minimize loss of life? How do we prepare the next generation of Jaeger Pilots?” This film answers all of these questions and more; leaving you wanting to know more about the universe the movie takes place in.
Whether it was the lack of a story, the over use of CGI, the fact that the villain wasn’t a threat to the League what so ever, or the growing sex allegations against Ben Affleck. Justice League failed to live up to the hype Warner Brothers so desperately wanted to it to be....and now its on DVD!!! Should we care?
For many people, Captain America: Civil War was their first look at T’Challa, aka the Black Panther and the ultra futuristic, secret country of Wakanda. In the movie Black Panther, the hype train was real when we were able to see Black Panther, Wakanda and the celebration of both Afro-Futurism and the research and dedication done to make this movie one of the best MCU movies since Iron Man.
Named the #1 movie in the world by Marvel Entertainment, Black Panther is another reminder of just how much Black people can and have achieved. While Black Panther isn’t the first superhero movie with a leading Black superhero (Ex. Blade, Catwoman and Spawn to name a few), it’s still nice to have a Black superhero movie dominate a mostly White genre.
Thor: Ragnarok offers a number of themes to give every movie goer something to talk about whether it’s the incredible fight scenes, emotional family moments, laugh out loud moments between Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo or a story that will leave you researching actual Norse mythology, Thor: Ragnarok will have you talking about it for days on end.
